Simpson falls to No. 10/13 Wartburg

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team fell 72-46 to No. 10/13 Wartburg inside Cowles Fieldhouse on Saturday.

The Storm (11-8, 6-4 A-R-C) hung with the nationally-ranked Knights (18-2, 11-0 A-R-C) for the first 10 minutes and carried a 20-18 lead into the second after shooting 8-for-16 from the floor.

Haley Rasmussen connected on a three to put Simpson within a basket, 28-26, with 6:04 left in the second quarter, but Wartburg ended the frame on a 17-2 run to lead 45-28 at halftime. The Knights were 12-for-19 in the frame.

Simpson struggled to knock down shots in the third period, allowing Wartburg's lead to grow to 61-30 through 30 minutes of play. The Storm outscored the Knights 16-11 in the fourth to set the final margin at 26 points.

Haley Rasmussen led Simpson with 11 points, hitting three triples to extend her streak of scoring at least one 3-pointer to 27 consecutive games.
