Storm rout Eagles for first victory

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season in dominating fashion, defeating Faith Baptist Bible 89-25 inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

The Storm (1-2) scored 26 points in each of the first two quarters, while the Eagles (1-2) managed just one free throw and field goal in the entire half. Simpson led 50-1 going into the final minute of the second quarter and 52-3 at half after Mikayla Jones scored Faith Baptist's first field goal of the game with 45 seconds left.

Simpson outscored its guests 37-22 in the second half, leading by as many as 67.

NOTES

  • The Storm set a new program record for fewest points allowed in a half. The previous record was seven against Central on Jan. 21, 2006.
  • The last time Simpson allowed 25 or fewer points was against Kansas Christian on Dec. 8, 2017.
  • The 64-point margin of victory was Simpson's largest since the 74-point win over Kansas Christian in 2017 as well. 
  • This was the first matchup between the two teams. 
  • Simpson has won four consecutive home games dating back to Feb. 8, 2023.
