ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Shaniah Temple scored a career-high 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting, but Hanover used a big third quarter to overcome a halftime deficit and defeat the Simpson College women's basketball team 83-64.
Temple scored 16 of her 22 points in the first 20 minutes to fuel the Storm (0-1) to a 34-27 halftime lead. Seven points from Haley Rasmussen along with a layup by Temple put Simpson ahead 43-36 before Hanover (1-0) went on a 24-7 run to close the third quarter ahead 60-50. The Storm pulled within five in the fourth, but the Panthers defense allowed just five points in the final seven minutes.
