Lutmer’s career game leads Simpson past Luther

INDIANOLA, Iowa – A career game from Molly Lutmer helped the Simpson College women's basketball team pick up a 76-63 win over Luther Saturday inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

Lutmer totaled 26 points, nine rebounds and two blocks - all career-highs - to lead the Storm (9-6, 4-2 A-R-C) to their fourth straight win. She finished the game with a career-high 10 made field goals, including six 3-pointers.

BREAKING DOWN THE GAME

  • Powered by eight points from Molly Lutmer, Simpson took an early 10-0 lead.
  • The Storm held a 22-14 advantage after 10 minutes and led by 17 on two occasions in the second quarter, their widest margin of the game. Lutmer sank two triples in the period to aid the home team to a 41-25 halftime edge.
  • The Norse (8-7, 3-3 A-R-C) cut the deficit to six with 4:04 left in the third stanza, but Simpson ended the quarter on an 8-4 run to maintain its double-digit lead going into the fourth.
  • The Storm shot 60.0 percent from the floor and got two more 3-pointers from Lutmer in the final quarter to come away with the win.

  • Simpson extends its win streak against the Norse to eight games and leads the all-time series 56-38.
  • The Storm have won four straight games and are currently ranked third in American Rivers Conference standings.
  • Cassie Nash finished her 100th career game with 10 points, tying Stacey Schutjer for seventh on Simpson's all-time scoring list with 1,388 career points.
  • Haley Rasmussen has made at least one triple in 23 consecutive games.
  • Molly Lutmer set new career highs in points (26), made field goals (10), rebounds (9) and blocks (2).
  • The Storm are now 3-1 on their home court.
