Street scores a career-high 20 points, Simpson defeats Coe on home court

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team secured another American Rivers Conference victory on Wednesday night with a 79-68 win over Coe on its home court.

The Storm (4-3, 2-0 A-R-C) scored over 20 points in all but one quarter and sank double-digit triples for the second time this season. Elle Street recorded a career-high 20 points and Cassie Nash posted an impressive stat line of 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The home team knocked down five 3-pointers in the first quarter to claim a 25-13 advantage through 10 minutes played. Molly Lutmer recorded two of the five, while Dylan Holland, Elle Street and Maddax DeVault all had one.
  • DeVault sank a second 3-pointer just 12 seconds into the second quarter to stretch the Storm's lead to 15, but Coe (4-2, 0-2 A-R-C) ended the half strong, scoring 18 of the next 24 points to slice Simpson's lead to 34-31 at halftime.
  • Street and Nash combined to go 6-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-5 at the line in the third quarter, which saw the home team outscore its guests 24-19 for a 58-50 lead with 10 minutes to go.
  • A small 8-0 run pulled the Kohawks within five, 67-62, with 3:49 left, but Simpson halted the momentum for good with a 3-pointer from Haley Rasmussen followed by back-to-back layups from Holland and Nash.
