Storm force 28 turnovers, complete sweep of Beavers

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Cassie Nash recorded her sixth 20-point performance of the season, Anna Wanek sank four of the Storm's 11 3-pointers, and the Simpson College women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Buena Vista with a 98-71 home victory.

Nash finished the night with a game-high 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the floor, her second consecutive outing with double-digit field goals. She added five assists and had five steals, tying Lisa Cowling's program record of 253 career steals set in 2001.

Wanek totaled 18 points fueled by four 3-point baskets. She connected on two in the final minute and a half of the second quarter to aid Simpson to a 51-40 halftime cushion, and added two more during a 21-4 third-quarter run that put the home team ahead 72-47 with 2:34 left in the period.

The Storm (12-10, 7-6 A-R-C) led by as many as 32 in the fourth quarter and forced a season-high 28 turnovers, scoring 32 points off the miscues. Along with Nash's five takeaways, Molly Lutmer and Macy Gaskill tallied three steals and Haley Rasmussen and Elle Street each had two.

Rasmussen (17) and Lutmer (15) rounded out Simpson's double figure scorers, combining for 32 of the Storm's season-high 98 points. The Storm converted 36 of 77 field goal attempts overall, 11 of 32 shots behind the arc and 15 of 24 free throws. Morgan Pietig led the hosts with seven rebounds and passed out four assists.

Buena Vista (6-16, 1-13 A-R-C) made seven threes and shot 53.8 percent from deep in the first half, but only converted 2 of 13 attempts in the second half. Lindsey Anhalt led the visitors with 15 points and seven rebounds, while McKenna Cone pitched in 13 points and Jenna Hallock scored 10 in just over five minutes.
