Simpson coasts past Nebraska Wesleyan

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team extended its win streak to six games with a resounding 88-37 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

The Storm defense dominated from the opening tip, forcing the Prairie Wolves to turn the ball over in each of their first four possessions and 12 times in the first quarter alone. Simpson (8-7, 3-3 A-R-C) scored 17 points off those miscues and carried a massive 25-2 lead into the second quarter. The Storm would coast to the victory from there, leading by as many as 53 points on their home court.

Sixteen players got into the scoring column for the Storm, who shot 44.4 percent overall (32-72) and 40.7 percent from behind the arc (11-27). The trio of Macy Emgarten, Molly Lutmer and Elise Boulton led the team with nine points each, while Cassie Nash and Anna Wanek combined for 16 and six other players contributed at least four points.

Simpson outrebounded its guests 59-25, with 25 of those coming on offense. Emgarten pulled down eight offensive rebounds alone and finished the night with nine overall. The Storm's 59 rebounds are the most since recording 60 in a 109-71 win at Kansas Christian on Dec. 10, 2016, while their 25 offensive boards were the most since Nov. 29, 2013 when the team hauled in 26 in a 94-28 win against Illinois Tech.

Nebraska Wesleyan (5-9, 1-5 A-R-C) ended the game with 27 turnovers and Simpson registered 14 steals. Nash had five takeaways and Elle Street finished with three.
