Simpson Athletics announces 2022 Hall of Fame Class

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College Athletic Department has announced the members of the 2022 Hall of Fame class.

The College's Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include women's track and field's Kinsey (Bak) Schiebout '12, volleyball's Tara (Christensen) Wachendorf '10, women's track and field and cross country's Catie Ellingson '12, softball and volleyball's Whitney (Oviatt) Chapman '10, and women's basketball's Stacey (Schutjer) Myers '12.

Additionally, Ron Peterson will be inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame for his successes as the head wrestling coach from 1995-2008. The winningest coach in program history, Peterson compiled a record of 196-106-2 during his 13 years at Simpson. During his tenure, a wrestler qualified for nationals on 41 occasions with 12 earning 19 All-American honors. He guided the Storm to four top-10 placings at the national championships.

Simpson Athletics will also recognize Double "S" award winners Jennifer Fleming-Smith '97 and Steve Johnson '81 for their career success following their time as a student-athlete at Simpson. Fleming-Smith was a three-year letterwinner for the women's tennis team and Johnson was a four-year letterwinner for the Storm wrestling program.

All eight honorees will be recognized at the Red & Gold Celebration dinner taking place in Hubbell Hall at the Kent Campus Center on Friday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. To register for the event, click here.

The 2022 inductees will also be introduced during halftime of the Loras vs Simpson football game on Oct. 15.
