Crockett, Richmond, Trent land on NFCA All-Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Simpson College softball team placed three on the 2021 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Midwest Region Team. Megan Crockett, Randie Richmond and Sara Trent were selected after stellar spring seasons.

Crockett and Richmond both grabbed second-team honors, while Trent landed on the third team to lead the Storm. The trio are the first all-region selections for Simpson since the program had three honorees at the end of the 2018 campaign.

Megan Crockett, second team
A native of Bryant, Iowa, Crockett batted .396 with 38 hits, seven doubles and six home runs while playing the outfield for Simpson. Against American Rivers Conference foes, the senior tied for first in the league with a .418 batting clip. Of the 29 games Crockett appeared in, she tallied multi-hit outings on 13 occasions. She drove in 24 runners, with 17 coming in A-R-C action. Overall, Crockett recorded a .656 slugging percentage for sixth best in the conference. In the outfield, Crockett had 40 putouts, including two assists.

Randie Richmond, second team
A native of Blakesburg, Iowa, Richmond led the team in hits (43), runs scored (32), doubles (12) and stolen bases (6). The junior ended top 10 in the league in doubles, runs and hits. The shortstop garnered a nine-game hitting streak during the spring with 15 hits during the span. She ended the year with a .377 batting average to drive in 16 runners. Richmond was selected as the A-R-C Player of the Week on two occasions this season, once as a pitcher and another as a position player.

Sara Trent, third team
A native of Fairfield, Iowa, Trent batted .411 to pace the squad and finish third in the conference. The third baseman ended her senior slate with 39 hits, six doubles and four home runs to drive in 20 runners and score on 14 occasions. She had 12 multi-hit contests, with six three-hit outings.
