Richmond, Wanek named A-R-C Athletes of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Another Monday, another American Rivers Conference Player of the Week honor for Simpson College softball junior Randie Richmond and women's tennis junior Anna Wanek, the league announced today.
Wanek has now received the recognition in back-to-back weeks and for the fifth time this season. This is Richmond's second time being selected this spring for the Storm.
The women's tennis squad appeared in just one match last week at Iowa Central, but fell 8-1. Richmond and company went 4-1 while sweeping its three-game set at Nebraska Wesleyan over the weekend.
Simpson women's tennis begins the A-R-C Automatic Qualifier Tournament against Coe on Tuesday. The match will begin at 4 p.m. inside the Buxton Tennis Complex. Softball travels to Luther on Friday for a doubleheader before closing out the series on Sunday.

• Tallied 10 hits as the Storm went 4-1 last week
• Scored eight runs while hitting four doubles
• Drove in three runs in the 11-3 victory over Iowa Wesleyan
• Swiped two bags in the 12-3 win at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday
• Tied for second in doubles (10) and third in hits (38) in the A-R-C rankings
• Second conference weekly honor this season
Anna Wanek | Women's Tennis Player of the Week
• Junior from Urbandale, Iowa
• Tallied the team's lone victory in an 8-1 loss to Iowa Central
• Won 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to remain unbeaten at No. 1 singles with a 19-0 mark
• Has only played to three sets on three occasions this season
• Fifth conference weekly honor this season
