Storm tally 5-2 win to sweep Prairie Wolves

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Simpson College softball squad capped off its weekend with a victory to sweep its three-game set at Nebraska Wesleyan. The Storm won 5-2 in the finale on Sunday.

The Storm (12-14, 9-9 A-R-C) reached the double-digit hit mark for the fourth time in a row with 11 knocks. Liv Erickson had three, while Karlie Hill and Maddie Luderman both had two to help the offense.

After a quiet first inning for both squads, Simpson plated two runs in the second for the early lead. With two runners on, Erickson connected on her second double of the season to clear the bases.

Carlyn Stanley worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the frame to keep the Storm's 2-0 lead intact. The Prairie Wolves (10-16, 8-10 A-R-C) finally broke through to tally a run in the third.

Maddie Luderman recorded her 16th RBI of the season in the fifth to place the game at 3-1. After the hosts added one in the sixth, Simpson responded with a pair of insurance runs in the seventh. Emily Bell delivered a two-run single to score Randie Richmond and Camrey Leo.

Stanley earned her second win in back-to-back pitching appearances and ended with six strikeouts. Brooke Tucker hurled two scoreless frames and allowed just two hits to capture the save.
