Storm fall in season finale at Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Simpson College men's basketball team fell at Buena Vista to wrap up the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday evening.

The Storm (9-16, 3-13 A-R-C) finished out the season, while the Beavers (13-11, 6-9 A-R-C) will be the No. 6 seed in the American Rivers Conference Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Beavers raced out to a 10-point lead and kept the advantage throughout most of the first half.
  • Buena Vista ramped up the pressure with an 11-2 run to close the half, before Andrew Curran nailed a triple at the buzzer to give the Storm some momentum going into halftime.
  • A second-half comeback was not in the cards, as Buena Vista continued their offensive prowess from the field, despite the Storm shooting over 50 percent in the second half.

  • Gibb scored in double figures in every game this season for the Storm.
  • Despite Buena Vista winning the rebounding battle, 35-28, the two teams tied for points in the paint, scoring 36 each.
  • Simpson was only able to force six turnovers, while the Beavers turned over the Storm 14 times, leading to a 23-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
