Norse defense stifles Storm on road

DECORAH, Iowa - The Simpson College men's basketball team could not find a way past Luther on Saturday afternoon, dropping a road conference game.

Each team got off to a rough start, with Luther eventually using a late first half run to seize control of momentum. Despite a better start from Simpson in the second half, the Norse (7-15, 2-11 A-R-C) did not allow a comeback attempt and came away with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams got off to an offensive struggle, with only four points scored combined in the first 6:30.
  • Easton Darling nailed a triple to go up 10-7, but the Norse only gave up five more points to end the half on an 18-5 run.
  • Luther came out and took control of the second half early, despite a better Storm (8-13, 2-10) offense in the opening minutes.
  • The Norse continued to play enough defense to not allow a Simpson comeback and claim the win.
