Duhawks use second half run to get by Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Simpson College men's basketball team were felled by a strong second half from Loras on Monday evening.

The Storm (8-14, 2-11 A-R-C) experienced success throughout the first half, leading by as many as seven, but the Duhawks (18-3, 9-3 A-R-C) used an explosive second half run to claim control of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Storm started out hot, scoring the game's first six points in the opening minute.
  • Loras battled back, taking a couple brief leads, but the Storm opened up a seven-point lead at 36-29.
  • The Duhawks responded with a 14-2 run to appear to take the momentum into halftime, but a jumper from Andrew Gibb as time expired meant the Storm were only down by one at the break.
  • However, the Duhawks took control in the second half, only allowing four Storm points over the first 7:30 to open up a double-digit lead.
  • By the time the Storm offense started to wake up, the lead was too much to overcome as the nationally ranked Duhawks came away with the win.
