Rick Isaacson inducted into Luther College Athletics Hall of Fame

DECORAH, Iowa – Rick Isaacson '03, was inducted into the Luther College Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 6, as part of the Luther College Homecoming weekend. Isaacson's citation was written and read by his lifelong friend and assistant soccer coach Tim Stork '04.

During his collegiate career, Isaacson made 88 appearances that included 87 starts at goalkeeper. The Norse won three Iowa Conference titles (1999, 2001, 2002) and also made three appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament advancing to the Elite 8 in 2001. Three times he was a first-team all-conference selection that included being named league MVP his senior year. He was also selected all-region twice. His 40 career shutouts and goals-against-average of 0.88 were both school records at the conclusion of his career. His 40 career shutouts currently rank sixth all-time in the NCAA III.

Isaacson is in the midst of his 13th season as head coach of the Simpson College men's soccer team. He entered the year with a career record of 130-77-21, that included a mark of 52-29-11 in the American Rivers Conference.

Luther College, located in Decorah, Iowa, is a member of the American Rivers Conference and affiliated with the NCAA Division III. The Norse compete in 10 men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports.

Since 1922, Luther's men's and women's sports have combined to capture 231 conference championships. The men's teams have won 160 and the women's teams have won 71.
