PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Simpson College men's soccer team dropped its final non-conference match of the season on the road at Wis.-Platteville on Friday evening.
The Pioneers (7-0-3) struck early in the game and added two more before halftime to make the task of a comeback a tough order for the Storm (4-6-0, 1-0-0 A-R-C). The Pioneers got one more 10 minutes into the second to effectively seal the game.
GOAL SUMMARY
- The Pioneers scored less than three minutes into the game from a free kick. Brady Harwood took a direct shot instead of the more obvious cross, catching everyone off-guard as the ball snuck in at the near post.
- Wis.-Platteville added a second 20 minutes later, despite a couple bright moments from Simpson a short time ago.
- It got worse for the Storm in the 38th minute, as the Pioneers' Alester Dawson added a third for his first goal of the year.
- Leading scorer Sebastian Carranza added the fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half.
STORM NOTABLES
- Ronaldo Ordaz was the leading offensive threat, taking three shots in total.
- Ordaz forced two good saves out of the Pioneers goalkeeper as well.
- Alongside Sam Hying, Ordaz tied for the team lead in minutes.
- Storm goalkeeper Kegan Trebilcock came into the game in the second half and recorded a season-high five saves.
- The Pioneers took the lead in the all-time series with the win tonight, now up on the Storm by a mark of 3-2-2.
