Ordaz wins third career offensive player of the week award

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After being involved in all five goals for the Simpson College men's soccer team this past week, senior forward Ronaldo Ordaz was named American Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Ordaz takes home his third career weekly honor and second this season. He was involved in all five of Simpson's goals over two games against Luther and Buena Vista.

Ordaz netted a late penalty kick in a narrow 2-1 loss against Luther to begin the week, extending his streak of scoring in every home game this season. The Marshalltown, Iowa native then assisted three of the Storm's four goals at Buena Vista, before scoring the other one himself in a 4-2 Storm win.

An all-conference pick a year ago, Ordaz is leading the conference in points (28) and goals (11). After his three assists against Buena Vista, Ordaz is also second in assists with six. Ordaz has now tallied 19 points and 11 assists in 52 career games, averaging almost a point per game throughout his career.

"Ronaldo is establishing himself as one of the premier attacking players in our league," said head coach Rick Isaacson. "He had another productive week and continues to be a driving force in our attack."

The Storm have two conference matches this week, hosting Nebraska Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, before hitting the road to take on Loras at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
