CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson women's basketball player Stacey Schutjer earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Player of the Week and Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 12, the conference office announced Tuesday.

She scored a game-high 24 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had four blocked shots in an 81-66 win over Buena Vista on Feb. 8. She went 11-for-15 from the field, hit both of her 3-point attempts and tied the school record for rebounds in a game. In the Storm's 75-67 win over Cornell on Feb. 11, Schutjer finished with nine points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four assists.

The honor is the fifth of Schutjer's career and first of 2011-12. She currently leads the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game and is second with 7.6 rebounds per game. Her 50 blocked shots also lead the team.

Schutjer and the Storm (18-5, 11-3 Iowa Conference) sit atop the league standings with two games remaining. Simpson controls its own destiny and can capture a fifth consecutive IIAC crown with wins in each of its last two, beginning with a matchup at Central on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from Pella.
