Storm falter in road contest at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - A cold shooting performance for the second game in a row cost the Simpson women's basketball team this time around.

Simpson shot only 28 percent from the field, Stephanie Reiter scored a game-high 17 points and host Wartburg hit 50 percent of its shots, beating Simpson 71-54 on Saturday at Levick Arena.

For the second time in four days the Storm (5-2, 1-1 Iowa Conference) couldn't find a rythym on offense. Wednesday, Simpson shot just over 30 percent in a 63-60 overtime win against Cornell.

Abi Weidemann added 16 points and Leslie Wilson scored 12 and grabbed eight rebounds for the Knights (6-1, 2-0). Reiter also handed out six assists.

Stacey Schutjer (Titonka, Iowa) led Simpson with 11 points. Ali Sokol (Urbandale, Iowa) chipped in with 10 and Kate Nielsen (Urbandale, Iowa) pulled down eight rebounds.

Wartburg never trailed and put the game away with a 16-8 run in the first seven minutes of the second half.

The Storm will try to get the offense back on track Wednesday, Dec. 7 when they host Luther (1-4, 0-1) at Cowles Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
