Garrison, Nostrala grab gold at Wartburg Select

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's track and field team ended fourth and the women collected fifth at the Wartburg Select Meet on Saturday.

Seth Nostrala and Craig Garrison earned first-place finishes in their respective events for the Storm's lone golds. Nostrala had a time of 15:36.32 in the 5,000 meters and Garrison ran a lap of 50.84 in the 400.

Audrey Arnold received two runner-up performances and a fourth-place nod to highlight the women. Arnold had a time of 15.03 in the 100-meter hurdles and leaped 5.01 meters in the long jump. The freshman tossed the javelin 24.72 meters for fourth.

Jamie Glanz had a height of 1.53 meters for third in the high jump and finished fifth in the long jump. Abby Loecke nearly missed clipping her career-best in the 800, but ran two seconds shy with a 2:28.73 to end fourth in the 800.

Cat Lucht and Sophie Hall tallied fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Lucht's performance is fifth all-time in program history in the event.

Ulysses Patterson (long jump), Steven Cruz-Castro (400) and Jason White (5,000) all ended third in their events for Simpson. Spencer Moon ran to fourth in the 1500 and Clay Billheimer had the same result in the 800. Nathan Magalhaes recorded fourth in the 5,000 meters and Trent Pelzer crossed the finish in fifth in the 800.
