Dean earns second CoSIDA Academic All-District honor

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson College men's soccer senior Ian Dean tallied his second career College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District honor, the organization announced Thursday.

Dean previously earned the honor at the end of the 2018 season. Since taking over the program in 2011, head coach Rick Isaacson has coached 18 Academic All-District selections, including five Academic All-Americans and the 2017 Academic All-America of the Year, Garrett Pochop.

The Johnston, Iowa native holds a 3.98 GPA as a mathematics and physics major, and has been named to the All-American Rivers Conference Academic Team on three occasions.

The midfielder played all seven matches this season with an assist to help the offense score 20 goals this season to tie for fifth in the league. In 59 career fixtures, he recorded 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points.

Dean will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
