Idehen earns men’s soccer’s second A-R-C weekly honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The American Rivers Conference selected Simpson College men's soccer forward Enrique Idehen as the Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The senior paved the way in the Storm's (2-0, 2-0 A-R-C) 9-2 victory over Buena Vista on Tuesday. The Urbandale, Iowa native scored two goals and assisted on another for a career-best five points. Idehen scored in the sixth minute and hit the back of the net just 11 minutes later for his fourth career multi-goal outing.

Among conference competitors, Idehen is second in the league with his five points and tied for second in goals scored. It took Idehen seven matches to reach five points last season; he accomplished that feat in two contests this spring.

This is the first career weekly honor for the 2019 All-A-R-C Honorable Mention selection and the second for men's soccer this season. Ricardo Ibarra was named the A-R-C Defender of the Week on March 29 for helping Simpson claim a 2-0 shutout in the season opener against Dubuque.

After the weekend off, the Storm travel to Central (1-1, 1-1 A-R-C) for a 3:30 p.m. match on Wednesday in Pella.
