The early part of Joe Farrand's career didn't go as planned, but he is certainly up to speed now. After battling injuries for the majority of his young career at Simpson, the sophomore caught the attention of the Iowa Conference when he won both the 3,000 and 5,000 meter runs at the league's indoor championships. He earned Most Valuable Track Performer accolades for his efforts, the first Simpson male to win the award since 1997. The men's team went on to finish the season ranked ninth in the final USTFCCCA Central Region Rankings.
