Storm take third at Central

PELLA, Iowa – Aaron Arment won the 200-meter dash and placed third in the 55-meter dash to lead the Simpson men's track and field team to a third place finish of six teams at the Dutch Athletics Classic on Saturday.

Central won the meet with 228 points, followed by William Penn (128), Simpson (89), Graceland (52), Southwestern CC (31) and Northwest Missouri State (14).

Arment, a sophomore transfer, won the 200 in 22.80 seconds and placed third in the 55-meter dash, crossing the line in 6.59.

Brad Vogel finished right behind Arment in the 55, finishing in 6.64.

Behind Arment's top finish in the 55, John Warnke gave the Storm their next-best effort by placing second in 4:37.89. Warnke led a trio of Simpson distance runners, as Miles Kirts (3rd, 4:44.32) and Bryce Phillips (4th, 4:48.89) followed Warnke in the Mile.

Joe Ferrand ran to a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters, breaking the tape in 8:45.04.

Mark Lahart took fourth in the 600 meters (1:28.81), John Cord took fourth in the heptathlon (3,291) and Brice Sheeder took fifth in the 400 (52.75) to round out Simpson's top efforts.

Simpson travels to the Cornell Hilltop Invitational in Mount Vernon on Saturday, Feb. 2.
