Mangold captures lone all-conference nod for Storm

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Katelyn Mangold captured the lone all-conference nod for the Simpson women at the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as the team ended in ninth.

After finishing in second in the prelims on Friday in the 400-meter hurdles, Mangold ended in third to still reach the podium for the second-straight year. The sophomore trimmed 34 tenths of a second off her time from last night to end in 1:04.14.

Audrey Klein reached the finals in the 800 meters and ended in seventh with a time of 2:22.61.

The 4x100-meter relay crossed the finish in 51.47 for eighth place, which was made up of MacKenzie James, Kia Noibi, Sarah Nolting and Mangold. The quartet of Cat Lucht, Abby Loeche, Klein and Mangold ran a time of 4:18.62 in the 4x400.

Kyli Orr and Emily Buchheit finished back-to-back in the 1500-meter race for Simpson. Orr ended in 5:11.30 for 18th and Buchheit crossed in 5:11.88 for 19th. In the 5000 meters, Kaylee Willadsen and Kate Derrick followed suit and ended in the 20th and 21st, respectively.

Madison Anderson competed in the lone field event for the Storm and took 29th in the discus.

The Storm will split up and either compete in the Augustana Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill. or the La Crosse Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis. on Thursday.
