Storm compete at Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Storm women's track and field team garnered seven top-five finishes at the Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational while competing against programs from NCAA Division I, III and the NAIA on Friday.

Emily Buchheit led the charge with two top-five performances, both coming on the track. Buchheit raced to third in the mile with a time of 3:24.45 and clocked a 3:28.64 in the 1,000-meter event for fifth. Abby Loeke ended her day with a third and fourth-place finish in the same events, respectively.

In the 800-meter race, Audrey Klein finished fourth with a time of 2:27.28, she followed three Nebraska Wesleyan runners. Sophie Hall earned ninth in the event.

Ashlee Litterer (seventh) and Katie Murano (eighth) finished back-to-back in the 3,000-meter race for Simpson, while Litterer chopped 11 seconds off her time from last weekend.

In the sprints, Mackenzie James led the squad in the 60 and 200-meter races. She crossed the finish in the 8.48 seconds in the 60 and 27.99 in the 200. Sarah Nolting competed in the same events as well and ended with times of 8.58 and 29.43.

The quartet of Katelyn Mangold, Jaycie Owens, Luci Swarthout and Sophie Hall tallied a time of 4:28.56 in the 4x400-meter relay, which landed the unit a fifth-place performance.

For the field events, Jamie Glanz reached 4 feet, 11 inches in the high jump, which was eighth best at the meet. Kamryn Juni topped 4 feet, 9 inches for 10th place. Delefine Niyigena soared 14 feet, 1 inch in the long jump.

The Storm are back in action next weekend at the Wartburg Indoor Select meet, competition spans Friday (Feb. 2 through Saturday (Feb. 2).
