Mangold, Murano garner top marks for Storm

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Katelyn Mangold and Katie Murano each earned a first-place nod in their respective events for the Simpson women's track and field team on Friday in the Central/Nebraska Wesleyan Triangular meet in Lincoln, Neb.

Mangold cruised to first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.00, just a second quicker than the next finisher. This is the second-consecutive meet where Mangold earned first in the event. Murano clocked a 12:35.11 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Cat Lucht tallied second place in the event.

MacKenzie James sprinted to third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13 seconds. Sarah Nolting ended in fourth in the event. Nolting cleared 2.23 meters in the pole vault for another top-five placing with third.

The 4x100-meter relay of Kamryn Juni, James, Mangold and Nolting combined to run a time of 51.99 for third place. Juni also nabbed a fourth-place result in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters.

Delefine Niyigena tallied two fourth-place marks at the event. Niyigena had a time of 17.09 in the 100-meter hurdles and a leap of 4.59 meters in the long jump.

The Storm are back in action on Thursday, April 25 for the 14th annual Kip Janvrin Open. The event runs through Friday, April 26 with field events beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
