Klein, Mangold race to first at Blue Oval Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Audrey Klein and Katelyn Mangold both finished first in their respective events on Saturday to pace the Simpson women's track and field team at the Blue Oval Invitational held at Drake University.

Klein not only earned her quickest time of her career in the 800 meters, she also has the fastest time in the American Rivers Conference this year with her mark of 2:19.67. Mangold cruised to a two-second win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.86.

Both Klein and Mangold teamed up with Abby Loecke and Cat Lucht to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:17.67.

MacKenzie James and Luci Swarthout had stellar days as well for the Storm and each placed fourth in their events. James crossed the finish in 13.02 in the 100 meters and Swarthout had a time of 1:11.91 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Jamie Glanz garnered third in the high jump and Kamryn Juni was just behind her teammate in fourth. Glanz cleared 1.50 meters and Lucht had a height of 1.45 meters.

Simpson hits the road on Friday to compete in a triangular meet with Central and Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb.
