Storm finish day one of A-R-C Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The American Rivers Conference Championships began for the Simpson women's track and field team on Friday with competition being held at Wartburg.

The distance medley relay garnered the top result for the Storm on day one of the championships. Audrey Klein, Cat Lucht, Abby Loecke and Emily Buchheit raced to sixth place with a time of 13:03.98.

The 4x200-meter relay of MacKenzie James, Katelyn Mangold, Sarah Nolting and Jaycie Owens crossed the finished in seventh.

James led the team in the 60-meters and Litterer paced the squad in the 5,000 meters.

Through five events, Katelyn Mangold is sitting in 11th place in the pentathlon. She ran a time of 10.11 in the 60 meters to finish in seventh.

In the field events, Kia Noibi soared 4.91 meters and Delefine Niyigena nabbed a distance of 4.46 meters. Alex Niemier launched the shot put 10.23 meters for Simpson. Madison Anderson tallied a throw of 8.57 meters in the shot put.

Day two of competition begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
