Storm close home slate with 2-1 loss to Luther

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College baseball team closed its 2022 home slate with a 2-1 loss to Luther on Sunday.

The Norse (19-16, 11-10 A-R-C) got on the board in the second inning, scoring two on singles from Will Heithoff and Peyton Lindmark. Simpson's bats had a quiet start but the Storm (18-17, 9-12 A-R-C) managed to load the bases in the fifth as Kolton Arnold doubled, Keaton DeKock drew a walk and Brennen Lemke singled. Arnold scored on a passed ball to cut the gap to 2-1.

Simpson had chances to tie the game in each of the final three innings, but couldn't push the tying run across. The Storm left the bases loaded in the seventh and stranded runners at second and third in the eighth and ninth.

With his double in the fifth inning, Arnold tied the program record for doubles in a season. He currently has 18 on the year, which ranks second in the American Rivers Conference.
