Storm unable to climb out of early hole

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Simpson College baseball team couldn't recover from an early deficit and fell 7-3 to SUNY Brockport in its final game at the Russmatt Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Storm (8-3) head back to Iowa having won six of eight games in Florida. Simpson is set to open American Rivers Conference play on March 25-26 at Dubuque.
The Golden Eagles (9-2) scored three in the first inning and stretched their lead to five with a run in the third and fourth frames. Kaleb Bauer scored in the sixth after leading off the inning with a ground rule double and Simpson cut the gap as close as three in the seventh. Bennett Wadstrom drove Keaton DeKock home with a triple to left center and later scored on a groundout.
The Storm finished the game with eight hits led by Bauer and DeKock with two each.
