Four win gold at Central Invitational

PELLA, Iowa – Max Cleveland, James Murray, Brenden Godbout, and Aryss Forbes all won events at the Central Invitational to lead the Simpson College men's and women's track and field teams on Saturday.

Murray collected the team's first gold medal of the day in the 3000 meter run which saw Simpson claim the top five placings. Murray crossed the finish line in 8:45.27 to lead the pack, followed by Noah Nelsen, Louden Foster, Ean Warrick and Andrew Klein. In the women's race, Teghan Booth (10:50.27) and Alayna Wallace (10:51.77) ran strong and finished second and third.

Cleveland took home first-place honors in the 400 meter dash with the fourth-fastest time in the conference this season (50.16), and Godbout won the 400 hurdles in 58.03. Forbes led the women's team by winning the 200 meter dash with a personal-best time of 27.55.

In the triple jump, Carter Berkey placed second with a career-best mark of 13.18 meters which ranks fifth in the American Rivers Conference.

Overall, the men's team placed third with 90 points and the women ended fourth with 69. The host Dutch won both titles.
