McChesney records 45th career pin in road loss

PELLA, Iowa – Dylan McChesney registered his 45th career pin but the Simpson College men's wrestling team fell 30-9 to Central in its final road dual of the season.

McChesney got Simpson off to a 6-0 start with a pin against Cory Hoyle in the opening match. His fall came in 2:47, giving the senior 10 first-period pins in 20 wins this season. McChesney now has 11 pins this year and 45 in his career after tallying seven in each of his first three campaigns and 13 in 2021-22.

At 133 pounds, Kanin Hable looked to make it two consecutive pins for the Storm, but Cael Cox managed to break free from the freshman's headlock and outscored Hable 6-1 in the third period for the 12-8 victory.

The Dutch (7-5, 4-4 A-R-C) won the next four matches to open up a 18-6 lead over the Storm (6-6, 2-5 A-R-C). Shyler Langley kept Simpson within reach with a 4-1 decision at 174 pounds and Andrew Wolff surrendered just three team points at 184 pounds, but a pin for Gage Linahon in the second-to-last match put the dual away for the home team.
