Langley, McChesney tally three wins at league duals
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Shyler Langley and Dylan McChesney each grabbed a trio of wins and the Simpson College men's wrestling team picked up its first conference win of the season at the American Rivers Conference Duals hosted by Loras.
The Storm (5-5, 1-4 A-R-C) defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 33-14 in their first dual of the day before going up against three nationally-ranked opponents. Simpson fell 33-13 to No. 9 Luther, 43-3 to No. 7 Loras and 47-3 to No. 19 Coe.
McChesney was victorious in all three of his matches at 125 pounds. He pinned Nebraska Wesleyan's Julian Long in 56 seconds and Luther's Noel Rosales Jr. in 1:45 before defeating Jared Hensley of Loras by a score of 3-0. McChesney improved to 18-4 this season and 81-51 in his career with the wins.
Langley went 3-1 on the day, with his only loss being a hard-fought battle against #10 Zeb Gnida of Loras which ended in overtime. His three victories were all by decisions: a 7-5 win over Zeth Gerkensmeyer (NWU), a 5-1 win over Braeden Hendel (LUT) and an 8-2 win over Ryker Kurimski (COE). Langley is now 23-7 overall and 82-48 at Simpson.
Zach Stewart also tallied multiple wins at the event. He pinned Nebraska Wesleyan's Christian Keller in 2:01 and earned a 16-5 major decision over Peter Hollingshead of Luther, but came up short against #7 Eric Kincaid (LOR) and was pinned late in his match against Bryce Parke (COE).
Other individual winners contributing to Simpson's dual victory over the Prairie Wolves included Kanin Hable with a 19-3 technical fall, Andrew Wolff with a 9-2 decision, Shane Mathias with a 14-3 major, and Colton Kinnison with a pin in 1:43.
