Men’s wrestling competes at Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invite

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Simpson College men's wrestling team had a dozen grapplers compete at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell.

Shyler Langley (174) and Colton Kinnison (285) led the way with a pair of sixth place finishes, while Kanin Hable (133) claimed eighth.

Langley recorded a team-high four wins thanks to an opening-round pin and three decisions. The senior faced three American Rivers Conference foes throughout the day, pinning Wartburg's Colton Berg in 2:15 before beating Luther's Luis Cruces 5-2 and Loras' Tad Griffith 4-1. His fourth win of the day was a 7-3 decision against Connor Thorsten of Augsburg.

Kinnison went 3-2 on the day, with four of his five matches being decided in overtime. He was victorious in two of those overtime matches, both against Cornell's Drake Fox, and added a pin over Stone Cummins of Coe in 4:05.

Hable also won three of five matches and led the team with two pins. Both of his falls came in the first period as he defeated Kolby Heinz (Loras) in 2:16 and Brendan Ferenchik (Iowa Wesleyan) in 0:57.
