Kinnison, Langley grab wins in first dual of the season

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Shyler Langley and Colton Kinnison posted wins in Simpson's 30-9 loss to Cornell in the season opener for both teams on Thursday.

Cornell (1-0) won the first three matches at 149, 157, and 165 pounds to claim a 10-0 lead over Simpson. Langley then gave Simpson (0-1) its first dual points of the season with a 10-3 decision over Dahson Dejong in the 174-pound match.

After a decision and pin went the way of the Rams, Kinnison pulled the Storm within 10 points, 19-9, with a pin over Drake Fox at 285 pounds. The six points were the last Simpson would score, as Cornell claimed a tight 2-1 decision at 125 pounds followed by back-to-back major decisions.

Simpson will see its first tournament action of the season on Saturday at home. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
