Anderson, McChesney lead Storm at Central Last Chance Invite

PELLA, Iowa -- Spencer Anderson and Dylan McChesney each had fifth-place finishes at the Central Last Chance Invitational on Saturday for the Storm wrestling team as four freshman competed at the event.

In the 125-pound bracket, McChesney lost his first match to Brandon Foster of Buena Vista, but went on to win his next two on pins to earn fifth. In McChesney's second bout, he pinned Cornell College's Nathan Bednarczyk in 1:30 and pinned Central's Connor Sexton just before the first period ended at the 2:55 mark.

Anderson won his first match of the day in the 133-pound bracket on a 16-0 technical fall over Cornell's Quinten Howe. Anderson lost in the next round and moved on to compete against Lincoln College's Raul Marrero and won on a close 4-3 decision. Anderson won the fifth-place match on a medical forfeit.

Jakob Slavin advanced to the second round on a bye in the 149 bracket and was pinned by Joe Eads. In his next bout, Slavin advanced to the fifth-place match after a 6-1 decision over Palidin Martinez of Lincoln. The freshman fell by pin to earn sixth.

Jason Padilla went to the second round at 133 on a bye, but lost in his next two matches for the Storm.
