Scott leads Storm at A-R-C Duals

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- DeVaughn Scott went 4-0 and defeated a ranked opponent to lead the Storm wrestling team at the American Rivers Conference Wrestling Duals on Saturday.

The Storm (1-11, 0-5) went 0-4 on the day at the Simpson hosted pod, losing to Nebraska Wesleyan (24-19), No. 10 Coe (35-6), Luther (33-6) and No. 8 Loras (39-4).

Scott's day was headlined by an overtime victory over No. 9-ranked Taylor Mehmen of Coe. He followed that match up by a 5-2 decision of Ben Lodema (Nebraska Wesleyan), a 3-2 decision over Hunter Weaver (Luther) and a 14-5 major decision over Richard Hunter (Loras).

Scott improves to 20-3 on the season at 197, that includes winning his last 16 of 17.

RJ Brown also posted a good day for the Storm, wrestling to a 3-1 mark on the day at 165. Brown had a pair of decisions, defeating Luke Silva (Coe) 8-5 and Michael Suarez (Luther) 6-2. He wasn't able to beat Tad Griffith of Loras and lost 6-5. Brown also received a forfeit against Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Storm won four matches against the Prairie Wolves. Including wins from Brown and Scott, Blake Bauer won by fall over Kendrick Frazier (0:34) at 157 and Jakob Slavin won by a 7-3 decision over Jaden Duran at 149.
