Storm pick up win at Gator Duals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- RJ Brown and DeVaughn Scott combined to go 8-0 and the Simpson wrestling team beat Wilmington 50-6 to highlight the team's trip to the Gator "Boots" Duals hosted by Luther on Saturday.

Brown went 4-0 at 165 pounds and Scott posted a perfect 4-0 mark at 197 for the Storm, who went 1-3 on the day. Simpson beat Wilmington 50-6, but fell to Elmhurst, Huntingdon and Manchester.

Sam Mathis posted a 3-1 mark at 285 while Dylan McChesney (125), Blake Bauer (157) and Shyler Langley (184) all picked up a pair of wins.

Brown had one pin with three decisions on the day, improving to to 14-7 on the year. His pin came in Simpson's win over Wilmington when he took down Brady Wilson in 3:51. The senior has now won 14 of his last 17 matches.

Scott had two pins and one major decision on the day to improve to 7-2. He took down Elmhurst's Dominic Gallo in 6:46 and Huntingdon's Jimmy Haynes in 1:53. He added a 15-4 major over Wilmington's Issa Khalil.
