Scott lands at No. 8 in NWCA Division III Rankings

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Individual Rankings placed DeVaughn Scott at No. 8 after the new rankings were released on Thursday.

The 197-pounder Scott has been on a tear as of late and has won 16 of 17 matches and holds a 20-3 overall record for the year. The Carrollton, Texas native is the first wrestler to be ranked since Brett Roberts was tabbed No. 9 on Dec. 9, 2015 in the 184-pound class.

On Saturday, the senior finished 4-0 in the American Rivers Conference Wrestling Duals inside Cowles Fieldhouse. Scott earned an overtime-victory over then, No. 9, now ranked 10th, Taylor Mehmen of Coe. He followed that match with a 5-2 decision of Ben Lodema (Nebraska Wesleyan), a 3-2 decision over Hunter Weaver (Luther) and a 14-5 major decision over Richard Hunter (Loras) to end the day.

The Storm travel to Loras to compete in the Duhawk Open on Saturday. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m.
