Brown scores pin in loss to No. 2 Wartburg

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- RJ Brown got a third-period pin at 174 pounds but No. 2 Wartburg beat the Simpson wrestling team 46-6 Wednesday night at Hopper Gymnasium.

The defending national champion Knights improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the American Rivers Conference. The Storm are 0-3 and 0-1 in the league.

Brown trailed Trevor McLaughlin 6-5 after the second period. Early in the third he escaped McLaughlin, then scored a takedown before recording the pinfall in 6 minutes, 35 seconds.

Tim Dendy gave Brock Meyer a run at 197 but, a scoreless second period hurt the freshman in a 4-2 loss. He trailed 2-1 after the first 3 minutes, but Meyer won the second period 2-0 and Dendy was unable to complete the comeback.
