Brown named IIAC Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson softball player Stacie Brown earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Female Athlete of the Week and Softball Position Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 22.

A freshman from Des Moines, Iowa, Brown hit .429 and slugged 1.286 as Simpson split doubleheaders with No. 21 Coe and No. 6 Central last week. She had a pinch-hit, two-RBI single in the seventh inning of the first game of the Central doubleheader to plate Simpson's only runs in the contest.

In game two, a 9-3 Simpson victory, she was 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored. Simpson hit four home runs in the nightcap against the Dutch, the most ever by a Simpson team in conference play.

Simpson closes the regular season this weekend when it hosts Buena Vista in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.
