Softball ranked 7th in Midwest Region
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The first NCAA Division III regional rankings of the 2012 season have the Simpson softball team ranked No. 7 in the Midwest Region, as announced Thursday.
Prior to Wednesday's doubleheader split with Coe, Simpson sat at 24-10 overall and 17-6 in region play.
Four of the eight teams ranked in the Midwest Region come from the Iowa Conference. Luther (28-4, 21-2) is No. 1, Central (25-5, 17-4) is No. 2 and Coe (24-8, 13-7) is No. 8.
The Storm have an opportunity to move up in the rankings Saturday when they travel to Pella, Iowa for a doubleheader against Central. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
