Storm extend winning streak to 7

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Simpson softball team continued on its impressive run at the Rebel Spring Games, picking up two wins each on Sunday and Monday.

The Storm (10-4) beat Muskingum (4-0) and Aurora (12-4, 5 innings) on Sunday and toppled Baldwin-Wallace (4-0) and Thomas More (6-3) on Monday, pushing their winning streak to seven games.

Simpson 4, Muskingum 0
Jess Toyne pitched five innings of hitless softball and Stacie Brown doubled in the only run Simpson would need in the second inning. Kacee Arey pitched the final two innings for her first save of the season.

Simpson 4, Baldwin-Wallace 0
Arey pitched a two-hit shutout and the Storm scored all of their runs in the third inning. Keri Sorensen and Chelsea Winegard drove in two runs apiece and Arey struck out nine.

Simpson 6, Thomas More 3
The Storm got out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the win behind Arey's complete-game effort. Hillary Harmon and Carissa Coopman each drove in two runs while Hailey Jensen and Winegard had two hits apiece.
