Kalinay named IIAC Track Performer of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson's Dylan Kalinay turned in one of NCAA Division III's best efforts in the 110-meter hurdles at the Coe Last Minute Invite on Sunday, earning Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

A sophomore from Toledo, Iowa, Kalinay won the 110 hurdles in an IIAC-leading 14.95 seconds, currently the 14th-best time in Division III. He also ran on Simpson's first-place 4x100 relay team, which currently ranks first in the conference after breaking the tape in 42.50 seconds at Coe.

Kalinay - who qualified for nationals in the 110 hurdles as a freshman - added a third-place effort in the 100 meters to help the Storm take second at the eight-team meet with 160.5 points.

The weekly accolade is the second of Kalinay's career but first outdoors. He was the IIAC Indoor Track Performer of the Week on Feb. 22, 2015.

Kalinay and the Storm go to the Cornell Invitational in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on Saturday, April 9.
