Frazier in 12th at halfway point of decathlon

WAVERLY, Iowa - Simpson's Isaac Frazier is in 12th place with 3,432 points after the first day of the decathlon at the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The junior from Marion, Iowa is well within reach of All-America honors, sitting just 35 points out of eighth place. His pace is 99 points off last week's NCAA Qualifying mark.

Frazier's best efforts were in his first two events, the 100-meter dash and the long jump. He ran 11.60 in the 100 and hit the sand in 6.43 meters in the long jump, just missing career-bests in each event.

The decathlon competition concludes Friday starting at Noon, beginning with his top event, the 110-meter hurdles. The final four events are the discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and the 1500 meters.
