Kalinay qualifies for finals on second day of NCAAs

WAVERLY, Iowa - Dylan Kalinay qualified for finals in the 110-meter hurdles, Isaac Frazier finished 11th in the decathlon and Emmitt Wheatley came in 17th in the 100-meter dash for Simpson on the second day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Kalinay posted the No. 7 qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdles, running 14.49 to place third in the second heat. A sophomore from Toledo, Iowa, Kalinay will advance to finals for the first time in his career. He placed 14th as a freshman in 2015.

The 110-meter hurdle finals are set to begin at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.

Frazier started the day in 12th place in decathlon, moving up one spot to finish 11th with 6,352 points. He set a new personal-best in the discus throw, placing fourth. He added a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

Making his first appearance at nationals, Wheatley ran 10.85 in the first heat of the 100-meter dash to place 17th.
