INDIANOLA, Iowa — Simpson men's soccer players Nick Joslyn and Chris Harris earned Iowa Conference Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 25. IIAC Players of the Week

The Storm snagged two overtime wins last week, beating St. John's (Minn.) 1-0 on Tuesday before opening IIAC play with a 3-2 win at Wartburg.

A junior midfielder from Baldwin City, Kan., Joslyn scored a crucial goal in the win over Wartburg, coming up with the equalizer in the 81st minute to force overtime. Simpson led 1-0 before surrendering two unanswered goals to fall behind 2-1 in the second half. The award is the first of Joslyn's career and second for the Storm this season. Garrett Pochop was named Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 11.

A junior from Ankeny, Iowa, Harris had a busy week in goal for the Storm, making seven saves while posting his third shutout of the season in the win over St. John's. Despite giving up two goals against the Knights, Harris made eight saves to earn his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor. The last Simpson player to earn the accolade was Austin Schafer on Nov. 1, 2015.

Simpson saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss at Elmhurst on Monday. The Storm look to go 2-0 in the IIAC when they host Luther on Saturday at 5 p.m.
