Pochop named second team all-region
INDIANOLA, Iowa — The awards continue to roll in for Simpson men's soccer player Garrett Pochop following an outstanding junior campaign, the latest coming in the form of Second Team All-North Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
2016 NSCAA Division III All-North Region Teams
Pochop, a forward from Pierre, S.D., scored a school-record 22 goals for the Storm in 2016, the fourth-highest total in Division III. He finished the season ranked sixth in the nation with 51 points, one shy of tying Simpson's single-season record.
Pochop becomes Simpson's first all-region honoree since 2006 and the first recognized by the NSCAA since 2003. His growing list of accolades for 2016 include Iowa Conference Offensive MVP honors and a selection to the CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America first team. He earned IIAC Offensive Player of the Week three times during the season and was named NSCAA Division III Player of the Week on Oct. 30.
