Storm knock off conference leader Dubuque 3-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa — Garrett Pochop scored two goals and the Simpson men's soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak in a big way, beating Dubuque 3-0 on Saturday.

The Storm (7-6-1, 2-2 Iowa Conference) knocked off the No. 4 ranked team in the North Region with two goals in the first half, the first coming off the foot of Pochop and the second coming from Nick Joslyn

Simpson's defense allowed only four shots on goal and Chris Harris saved each shot on frame for his fourth shutout of the season.

Pochop put the game out of reach in the 77th minute, connecting on his second goal of the game — both assisted by Josh Harry — to make it 3-0.

The Spartans (10-2, 3-1) managed only eight shots on the night, watching a four-game winning streak come to a close. Dubuque suffered its first loss of the conference season.

Pochop tallied his fourth, two-goal game of the season while increasing his season total to 12.
